Hello, we are delighted that you are thinking of joining us. As you need to be under the age of 18 to join the Company, you will need parental consent to audition.
We would like to invite you to join our
COMPANY AUDITIONS
Wednesday 4 November 7pm-8pm
You will need to prepare the following:

1 minute acting monologue of your choice
-
2-3 minute musical theatre song using a backing track of your choice
You will not be able to proceed with the next round of show auditions unless you pass the Company Auditions, all auditionees will be notified within 24 hours of auditioning.

Once you have completed your Company Audition, you can attend our fun, interactive workshops. If you’re unable to attend, please let us know so we can send you audition material to learn.
The workshops are a great way to get a feel for what it’s like to be part of Starmaker Theatre Company, with no obligation to audition for the show at this stage. We’re looking for cast members aged 11-17 to take on lead and supporting roles, as well as being part of the ensemble.
You won’t become a Member of the Company until you have accepted a role in the current production.

AUDITION PACK
DEAR EVAN HANSEN is a powerful and moving musical about friendship, family, loneliness and the need to feel that we belong.
Evan Hansen is a teenager who struggles with social anxiety and finding his place in the world. When a misunderstanding involving a letter leads to an unexpected connection with a grieving family, Evan suddenly finds himself at the centre of a story that takes on a life of its own.
As the situation grows, Evan is caught between the comfort of finally feeling seen and the consequences of a lie that becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. With heartfelt songs, relatable characters and an honest look at the pressures of growing up in a world shaped by social media, Dear Evan Hansen explores what it means to be yourself, to tell the truth and to find connection when you need it most.
An emotional and thought-provoking musical, it reminds us that everyone deserves to be heard and that no one should have to feel alone.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN is rated 12+ and explores sensitive themes, including suicide, grief and mental health. We believe it approaches these difficult subjects honestly and offers a hopeful, constructive message.
The young people’s wellbeing will guide our approach throughout the whole rehearsal process. We’ll discuss sensitive material in an age-appropriate way, check in with the cast and take particular care with what younger members are asked to explore and perform.
COMPANY AUDITION
You must be aged 11-17 to join Starmaker Theatre Company. Membership is via our Company Audition process only, you can audition several times a year and occasionally we have spaces after our main show auditions for you to join the ensemble.
SHOW AUDITION DAY
If you are not going to attend any of the workshops please let us know in advance so that we can send you DEAR EVAN HANSEN audition materials to learn. We also have a DEAR EVAN HANSEN Facebook group you can join, please email membership@starmaker.org.uk for more information.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals take place at South Lake Primary School, Woodley, Reading every Wednesday evening from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, plus occasional Fridays from 7:30pm to 10:00pm and some Sundays from 10:30pm to 1:00pm and/or 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Those with principal/featured roles and dancers are more likely to be called for Friday and Sunday rehearsals.
MEMBERSHIP
Members pay a £54 a month monthly subscription that includes additional benefits including sibling discounts, discounts for other Starmaker activities such as LAMDA classes, Stage School and Summer School and voting rights for the Starmaker charity. Full details of the relative membership benefits can be found on our website after joining.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
The youth theatre company enjoys a thriving acting membership of up to 30 young performers ranging from 11 to 21 years of age. We typically perform two shows per year, normally in March or April and October, at venues in Reading, Wokingham, Henley and Bracknell. We have a large number of volunteers working behind the scenes of Starmaker, including our management committee, our artistic development team, publicity and marketing team, wardrobe and make-up departments and a team of licensed chaperones. We encourage parents to get involved and become part of the Starmaker community.
