It is free to attend any of the optional "Fame The Musical" workshops, and free to audition for the show. Attending the workshops will allow you to meet other members of Starmaker, and get a feel of what it is like to be part of the company before you audition.
Please let us know if you are not coming to any of the "Fame The Musical" workshops so we can send you the audition pieces and music to learn at home!

An unmistakable title from the unforgettable film and television franchise, Fame The Musical inspired generations to fight for fame and light up the sky like a flame! Conceived and developed by David De Silva - now known affectionately to the planet as "Father Fame," this high-octane musical features the Academy Award-winning title song and a host of other catchy pop numbers.
The show follows the final class of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts from their admission in 1980 to their graduation in 1984. All of the struggles, fears, and triumphs - from prejudice to substance abuse are depicted with razor-sharp focus as the young artists navigate the worlds of music, drama, and dance.
You do need to pre-register to audition but you can just turn up to any of the workshops!

FAME THE MUSICAL will be performed at The Alan Cornish Theatre in Woodley. Show week is 12-19 October 2024. You will need to be available for both the technical and dress rehearsals, and all performance dates to be able to audition.
Successful auditionees will become members of Starmaker Theatre Company, membership fees are £50 per month. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays 7:30pm-10pm, some Fridays 7:30pm-10pm and some Sundays 10am-4pm. Additional rehearsals are very much dependant upon your part in the show and how close we are to show week.
All workshops, auditions and rehearsals held at South Lake Primary School, Campbell Road, Woodley. Rehearsals for FAME THE MUSICAL will start on Wednesday 15 May 2024.
Character Breakdown
Serena Katz
A shy and timid, yet keen and enthusiastic actress. She is attracted to Nick.
Gender: Female.
Nick Piazza
Ambitious, enthusiastic, classical actor who is very serious about his craft. He holds a hidden romantic interest for Serena.
Gender: Male
Joe Vegas
An acting student. Loud, funny, and comical. He develops a crush on Carmen.
Gender: Male
Carmen Diaz
A sexy and confident, but cocky, dancer with a big ego. Carmen is determined to make it big and is obsessed with the idea of fame, nearly to a fault.
Gender: Female
Tyrone Jackson
A talented but dyslexic hip hop dancer who comes from a poor background. Shares a difficult relationship with Iris.
Gender: Male
Iris Kelly
A very talented, graceful ballet dancer who often comes across as snobbish and mean because of her insecurities with herself. She shares a difficult relationship with Tyrone.
Gender: Female
Schlomo Metzenbaum
A classical violinist who starts a rock band. He is fed up from the strain of his famous violinist father's expectations. He is very wise and academically clever.
Gender: Male
Grace Lamb (Lambchops)
A loud, confrontational rock chick and tomboy who plays the drums for Schlomo's band. She often loses her temper and it is implied that she does not take school seriously.
Gender: Female
Goodman King
A musician who is in Schlomo's band. He is believed to be Schlomo's best friend.
Gender: Male
Mabel Washington
A louder than life dancer and singer who is desperate to shed pounds but can't resist food. Often speaks her mind and gives out advice to others in their times of trouble.

Miss Esther Sherman
A strict, old-fashioned English teacher who loves her students despite the fact that she comes down hard on them.
Gender: Female
Miss Greta Bell
A dance teacher with a passion for different styles of dance. Believes that dance is a way of life and is very protective of her students.

European Music tutor with a love for classical music and dislike for all things rock and roll.
