Please complete the audition form by 4 November 2026, registration and parental consent essential to audition. All performers must be 18 or under to audition. Show week is 11-17 April 2027.

The last two rehearsals are during the end of the Easter holidays.
ABSENCES must be noted on the audition form, even if you are not sure if you will be absent - please put the dates down just in case. We do not mind how many absences you have, as long as we know about them now. Further information on our Absence Policy below.
Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday 18 November 2026.
All cast members will be called for rehearsal at South Lake Primary School, Woodley every Wednesday during term-time from 7:30pm to 10pm.
Depending on the role assigned, there will be additional rehearsals scheduled for Fridays from 7:30pm to 10pm and or Sundays from 10:30am to 1pm and/or 1:30pm to 4pm.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN is a powerful and moving musical about friendship, family, loneliness and the need to feel that we belong.Evan Hansen is a teenager who struggles with social anxiety and finding his place in the world. When a misunderstanding involving a letter leads to an unexpected connection with a grieving family, Evan suddenly finds himself at the centre of a story that takes on a life of its own.As the situation grows, Evan is caught between the comfort of finally feeling seen and the consequences of a lie that becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. With heartfelt songs, relatable characters and an honest look at the pressures of growing up in a world shaped by social media, It explores what it means to be yourself, to tell the truth and to find connection when you need it most.
An emotional and thought-provoking musical, it reminds us that everyone deserves to be heard and that no one should have to feel alone.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN is rated PG13 and explores sensitive themes, including suicide, grief and mental health. We believe it approaches these difficult subjects honestly and offers a hopeful, constructive message.The young people’s wellbeing will guide our approach throughout the whole rehearsal process. We’ll discuss sensitive material in an age-appropriate way, check in with the cast and take particular care with what younger members are asked to explore and perform.

Evan Hansen
Smart, sincere, and excruciatingly self-conscious, Evan prefers to hover in the background, a supporting player in his own life, too afraid to step forward into the spotlight and risk ridicule or, what might be worse, no one noticing him at all.

Heidi Hansen
Evan’s mother. Overworked and stretched too thin, Heidi loves her son fiercely, but fears they have begun to grow apart. She is prepared to do anything to repair the damage.

Zoe Murphy
Sensitive and sophisticated, with a sharp sense of humor, Zoe could care less about the status games and popularity rites of high school. She feels a terrible ambivalence over her brother’s death.

Connor Murphy
An angry, disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember, an enigma and a source of endless consternation to his long-suffering parents.

Cynthia Murphy
Connor and Zoe’s mother. To Evan, she seems to be the perfect mother, nurturing, available, and willing to talk about anything. To her own children, it’s a bit more complicated.

Larry Murphy
Connor and Zoe’s father. Though often tense and taciturn, Larry shows a different face to the world, representing for Evan the dad he always wished for: strong, confident, and more than anything, reliable, someone to be counted on.

Jared Kleinman
Droll and sarcastic, Jared covers his own insecurities with a well-practiced swagger and a know-it-all arrogance.

Earnest to a fault, prone to melodrama, Alana hides a deeper loneliness beneath an ever-present smile and an almost aggressive friendliness.

The Ensemble
They play an important role in creating the world around Evan and showing how his story affects the people and community around him. They help tell the story through singing, movement and character work, particularly as the story spreads through social media and the school community.

Absence Policy
Being part of Starmaker Theatre Company is a big commitment. Absences from rehearsals cause difficulties for other cast members as well as the production team, affecting the progress of rehearsals and the production as a whole.
Being cast in a production is a commitment, not a weekly drama class that you can skip without consequences. We understand that members have other commitments, which is why we ask you to let us know about any potential absences in advance on your audition form.
Any additional absences that were not included on your audition form will be dealt with as follows:
* Miss 1 - No further action, but please do not miss any more rehearsals.
* Miss 2 - The Production Administrator will speak to the member.
* Miss 3 - The Production Administrator will speak to the parent/carer.
* Miss 4 - The Company Manager will speak to the member.
* Miss 5 -The Company Manager will speak to the parent/carer.
* Miss 6 - The Company Manager will speak to the Producer
* Miss 7 -The Producer will speak to the parent/carer.
* Miss 8 - The Producer will consider whether the member can remain in the production.
* Miss 9 - The Producer will remove the member from the production.
Please note that if a member misses three or more rehearsals without notifying the Production Administrator by email, the Producer will consider removing them from the production. We understand that emergencies can happen, but it is important that the production team is kept informed as soon as possible.
Important information
1. Missing a Sunday rehearsal will count as two rehearsals for the purposes of this policy.
2. We will endeavour to stick to the published rehearsal schedule. If changes to the schedule result in additional absences, these will not count towards the absence limit above.
3. All additional absences must be reported by email to pa@starmaker.org.uk as soon as they become known.
4. All absences are recorded and may affect future casting decisions.
5. Please remember that rehearsals are an important part of putting on a successful production.
6. Every cast member has a responsibility to the rest of the company, and regular attendance is essential.
7. We ask all members and parents/carers to respect the commitment involved in being part of Starmaker Theatre Company.
8. We understand that unexpected events and changes in circumstances can happen. Please discuss any changes with us as soon as possible so that we can support the member and consider any necessary decisions regarding their involvement in the production.
