STAGE SCHOOL
INFORMATION PACK

​Welcome to Starmaker Stage School, where young performers develop confidence, creativity and lifelong skills in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment. Stage School provides training in acting, singing and dance, helping children build confidence, make new friends and develop their performance abilities regardless of previous experience. Every child is encouraged to learn at their own pace, celebrate their achievements and enjoy the performing arts in a nurturing, positive and encouraging atmosphere.
 

Our Classes

We have two age groups designed specifically for different stages of  learning and development. Each term is 11 weeks in length.

⭐ Mini Stars (Ages 4–6)  

Our Mini Stars programme has been carefully designed for our youngest performers. At this age, children learn best through imagination, movement, storytelling and play. Every session is built around exciting games, music and creative activities. Children gain valuable performance skills without realising they are learning.
 

Every session helps children develop:

  • Confidence

  • Listening skills

  • Concentration

  • Imagination

  • Communication

  • Creativity

  • Social skills
     

Class Structure

Mini Stars attend for 2 hours, taking part in:

  • Welcome games and warm up

  • 45-minute performance session

  • Comfort and refreshment break

  • 45-minute performance session

  • End of session celebration
     

Three Week Rotation

Children enjoy two creative sessions each week, rotating through acting, singing and dancing over a three-week cycle.

Week 1

This ensures every child receives balanced training across all three performing arts disciplines throughout the term.
 

Learning Through Play

Our teachers use imaginative themes, stories, music and movement to keep children engaged include:

  • Musical games

  • Storytelling adventures

  • Rhythm games

  • Action songs

  • Imaginative movement

  • Freeze games

  • Animal movements

  • Confidence circles
     

Acting

Children begin to:

  • Use their imagination

  • Create simple characters

  • Tell stories

  • Express emotions

  • Use facial expressions

  • Listen and respond
     

Singing

Children learn:

  • Simple vocal warm-ups

  • Rhythm

  • Keeping a beat

  • Singing together

  • Musical expression

  • Performance confidence
     

Dance

Children develop:

  • Coordination

  • Balance

  • Spatial awareness

  • Rhythm

  • Gross motor skills

  • Flexibility

  • Creative movement

🌟 Young Stars (Ages 7–12)

As children become older, they are ready for more structured training while still having plenty of fun. Young Stars receive teaching in all three disciplines every week, allowing them to make faster progress and develop a range of performing skills. Children begin learning  techniques used in theatre and performance.

 

Every session is designed to help them:

  • Build confidence

  • Improve concentration

  • Encourage teamwork

  • Develop communication skills

  • Increase focus and listening skills

  • Encourage creativity and imagination

  • Improve coordination and physical awareness

Young Stars attend for 3 hours, every week they take part in:

  • Welcome games and warm-up

  • 45-minute Acting class

  • 45-minute Singing class

  • 45-minute Dance class

  • Group activities and performance work

Acting Training

Children begin developing real acting techniques including:

  • Character development

  • Improvisation

  • Script work

  • Voice projection

  • Stage presence

  • Facial expression

  • Physical theatre

  • Storytelling

  • Creating believable characters

  • Emotional connection

  • Mime

  • Devising scenes

As they progress, students also begin exploring different styles of theatre and performance.
 

Singing Training

Students develop healthy vocal habits through:

  • Vocal warm-ups

  • Breathing techniques

  • Pitch matching

  • Harmony and solo singing

  • Ensemble singing

  • Musical expression

  • Performance skills

  • Diction

  • Confidence performing to an audience

Children are encouraged to sing confidently while protecting their voices using correct technique.
 

Dance Training

Young Stars explore a variety of dance styles while developing strong technical foundations.

Skills include:

  • Posture

  • Alignment

  • Flexibility

  • Strength

  • Turns

  • Jumps

  • Timing

  • Musicality

  • Performance quality

  • Choreography

  • Stage movement
     

Performance Skills

Throughout the year, children learn how to:

  • Perform confidently

  • Work as part of a team

  • Remember choreography

  • Learn scripts

  • Develop stage presence

  • Perform to audiences

A Safe and Supportive Environment

Every child deserves to feel welcome. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where children feel safe, supported and encourage.

What Should My Child Wear?

Children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement, please avoid restrictive clothing that may make movement difficult.

  • Purple Stage School t-shirt and hoodie (included in the joining fee)

  • Black Leggings, joggers or shorts

  • Black jazz shoes (trainers are acceptable in your first term)

  • Hair tied back if long​
     

What Should My Child Bring?

Please bring with you each week:

  • Water bottle

  • Healthy snack such as fresh fruit, cereal bar or breadsticks

  • Positive attitude and plenty of enthusiasm!

At Starmaker, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to shine. Whether your child dreams of performing professionally or simply wants to build confidence, make new friends and have fun, our Stage School provides a supportive environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. It is a place where friendships are formed, talents are discovered and confidence grows week after week.

Progression To Our Youth Theatre Company
As children reach the age of 12, we encourage them to audition for our award-winning youth Theatre Company, where they can continue their performing arts journey. This exciting next step allows young performers to build on the skills they have developed in Stage School while working alongside like-minded young people who share a passion for theatre. Our youth Theatre Company produces two full-scale stage productions every year, giving members the opportunity to perform in professional theatre venues, work with experienced directors and creative teams, and experience the excitement and discipline of putting on a large-scale musical or play. Many of our former members have gone on to study performing arts, join drama schools and pursue careers within the creative industries, while others simply cherish the confidence, friendships and life skills they gained through their time at Starmaker.
